Injury Scare Forced Changes To WWE NXT

There was a scary situation on Tuesday’s episode of WWE NXT, which was the go-home edition for Saturday’s NXT Stand & Deliver special, that caused changes to be made to the broadcast.

Fightful Select reports that there was concern backstage that Joe Gacy had suffered a concussion in a match against North American Champion Oba Femi as it was stopped. The referee ruled it a no-contest and threw up the dreaded “X” signal that typically indicates a real injury.

Femi and his NXT Stand & Deliver challengers Dijak & Josh Briggs were originally supposed to do an in-ring segment, but plans were changed to a backstage segment instead. Also, the announcement that Gacy will take on Shawn Spears for Saturday’s Stand & Deliver kickoff show was delayed.

Gacy did make it backstage on his own power after being checked out by medical. His match is still planned, indicating that Gacy passed a concussion check, although the report doesn’t state that outright.
