Part of Nick Khan’s job in WWE is to bring more PLE events to big markets and the hope is that they will get paid by local governments like Puerto Rico did for Backlash.
This week there’s been talk about WWE officials visiting Perth, Australia to discuss a potential PLE event in that region. WWE officials reportedly talked with the tourism board and if an event gets booked there, they could potentially run a show at Optus Stadium in front of 65,000 people. WWE hasn’t done a show in Australia since 2019.
The insider Twitter account, @BoozerRasslin, reported earlier this week that the plan is to run an international PLE event on September 2nd. No word on the name or location of the event.
WWE’s Clash at the Castle took place in Cardiff, Wales on September 3, 2022 but there’s no word on if WWE plans to go back this year or if they are looking to go elsewhere for the September show. Puerto Rico may be off the table if they plan on running Backlash there every year after WrestleMania.
