Jake Roberts says he left WWE in 1992 because Vince McMahon broke a promise to him

Jake “The Snake” Roberts spoke with Steve Fall in an exclusive interview for WrestlingNews.co.

On being promised the booking position early on in his first WWF run whenever Pat Patterson was done booking:

“Vince had promised me that position long before, several years before, that that would be my spot. So when it happened, I’m like, ‘Okay, I’m ready, man’, and the story was ‘Well, out of respect for Pat, we’re not going to fill that position.’ Bullsh*t. Pat never left. He was still there. He just wasn’t shown on TV.”

Jake talking about Survivor Series ‘89

“Vince had come to me and asked me if I could get a bigger snake because he wanted all four of us to hold it. He wanted Hogan to hold the head, me behind Hogan, and then Demolition behind me. He wanted us to walk to the ring and all four of us carrying a huge snake. Well, I thought to myself, this screws my gimmick. So I said, Okay, I gotta do what the boss said, get a bigger snake. He didn’t say how big though, did he? So I got a bigger snake. I got a 20 foot Anaconda that weighed about 400 pounds. His head was ginormous. He could have swallowed one of us. That’s how big he was. When that thing came out, Vince went, ‘Oh my God. Hell no. Get it out of here.’ I said, ‘Well Vince, I did what you asked.'”
