Jeff Hardy will make his first non-AEW wrestling-related appearance next month when he works for GCW for the first time in his career.
Jeff was written off television last month after he and his brother Matt Hardy lost to The Gunns on AEW Dynamite. Post-match, the babyfaces were attacked by Bullet Club Gold after the match until Ricky Starks, FTR, and CM Punk ran in to make the save to set up a match for Collision on Saturday night.
This was done to write him off television due to Jeff’s past arrests as he cannot fly into Canada, a problem as AEW held shows in the country over the last few weeks.
Matt Hardy recently noted on his Extreme Life podcast that Jeff had cut back on his independent dates.
“Jeff is just so nice of a guy where it is hard for him to say no, you know, because he is very much a people pleaser and I think part of his journey to sobriety over the last year, he has probably learned a lot and he has put his foot down some in terms of being a people pleaser, much like he doesn’t wrestle on the indie scene right now. He’s open to doing signings and cons and stuff like that, but he only wants to do two a month. He’s really put his foot down with that, and I respect that, and I’m cool with that.”
The former WWE Champion will work the August 4th GCW show in Detroit at Harpos Concert Theatre for their ‘My Name Is’ event. After the show, he will take the stage for a musical performance.
GCW has since updated its post, noting that Hardy will be appearing, not wrestling at the show.
Plus:
Immediately following Jeff's appearance and the conclusion of GCW's event, Jeff will take the stage at Harpo's for a LIVE Concert Performance!
The concert is separate admission.
