Jeff Hardy will be off AEW shows for a while.
The former WWE Champion teamed with his brother Matt Hardy tonight on AEW Dynamite. They lost to the Gunns and were then attacked by Bullet Club Gold after the match until Ricky Starks, FTR, and CM Punk ran in to make the save to set up a match for Collision on Saturday night.
Fightful Select reports that due to Jeff’s past arrests, he is not able to fly into Canada and AEW has several weeks of shows in different Canadian cities in the coming weeks, which is why Jeff will be off TV for a while.
AEW will be in Hamilton this Friday and Saturday for Rampage and Collision, followed by Toronto for Forbidden Door, Saskatoon (Dynamite), Regina (Collision) and they will be in Calgary for Collision on July 15th for the finals of the Owen Hart tournament. There’s always the possibility that Jeff can do some pre-taped promos that can be inserted into future shows.
For anyone wondering how Jeff is doing with his sobriety, Matt said the following about his brother on his podcast: “Jeff is just so nice of a guy where it is hard for him to say no, you know, because he is very much a people pleaser and I think part of his journey to sobriety over the last year, he has probably learned a lot and he has put his foot down some in terms of being a people pleaser, much like he doesn’t wrestle on the indie scene right now. He’s open to doing signings and cons and stuff like that, but he only wants to do two a month. He’s really put his foot down with that, and I respect that, and I’m cool with that.”
