As many of you saw today at WWE Crown Jewel, Solo Sikoa defeated John Cena, thus keeping Cena’s singles match losing streak going. Cena has not won a match since 2018 and this was pointed out during Friday Night SmackDown and during the Crown Jewel broadcast.
After his loss to Sikoa, Cena waved to the crowd as he was given a standing ovation. It came across as if Cena was saying goodbye for the last time as an active wrestler but it was never explicitly stated by him or the announcers that he was retiring. However, on social media, he seemed to hint that he may be done.
Cena posted a photo of David Beckham, which was taken during his last soccer match. The post is a clear signal to fans that his days in the ring are winding down. For whatever it’s worth, Cena said during the Fastlane post-show press conference that he knows his time is coming soon because he’s 46 years old. Also, Cena has movie commitments once the actor’s strike ends.
With all of the teases going on, the most logical time for Cena to retire would be at WrestleMania 40 but again, with his movie commitments, it is unclear if he would be available for that show. You can see Cena’s Instagram post below.
