John Cena Says He’s All-Natural, Has Never Taken Performance Enhancing Drugs

John Cena has been jacked for decades as fans have followed his pro wrestling career from OVW to the main roster of WWE. There have been some who have questioned Cena whether has been clean his entire career and not at least experimented with steroids.

While appearing on the Howard Stern Show today, Cena noted that he has never taken performance enhancing drugs while discussing being able to lift 600 pounds.

Cena: “The profession calls for it. Yeah, you gotta lift folks and throw them.”

Stern: “John, you always say, are you still all natural?”

Cena: “Still. Yeah, still.”

Stern: “Still, you didn’t want to put any of that shit in your body? And I mean, imagine how jacked you would have been if you used that stuff.”

Cena: “There’s risk-reward there. You know, if you hit the gas pedal too early, you can get a lot of bad stuff happen long-term….I love to work out. Like you said, I know it’s important. I love it. It’s kind of like my meditation. It’s a place that I have to be present. Or else you’re gonna get hurt. So, in being present and exerting yourself physically, I just feel less stressed when I leave. Like, I don’t worry about anything while I’m in there except what I’m doing. And then I ended up leaving calmer and in a better place. And when I walked in.”

Stern: “Did you ever have an agent or someone in the profession, especially in wrestling? Who said he, you know what, if you jacked up on some juice? You probably, I mean, I think I mean, listen, you did as well as he can do in the WWE. But then when you were first starting, they probably said listen, the bigger you are, obviously the more noticed you’d be.”

Cena: “Not really. I’ve been 225 pounds since I was 17 years old. So I always feel that my frame. I started lifting at 13. And I guess that’s why I never needed it, and I’m not ruling that out. There’ll come a time. Time is undefeated, and I get my bloodwork done three times a year, and my testosterone is fantastic for a 47-year-old.”

Stern: “What does that mean? In other words, if your testosterone is high, your body is not aging as rapidly?”

Cena: “No, it means you can more than likely, you’ll feel good, you still can functionally. It’s an indicator of, like, how much my body can repair itself, how much I can build, how many days I’m gonna feel good, how many days will I feel intrinsically driven to do work. When that falls below a certain level, the level of the window is huge. I’m talking, falls below like 302 50 I want to be able to use science to help me get that back in the bracket. But I’m so far from that now. I’ve gotten 46-47 years without it, and I have it in the bank like a fire escape thing to break open and hopefully give me another 20 years of fitness.”
