Keiji Muto went out a winner as The Great Muta when he had his retirement match for the character in Pro Wrestling NOAH on Sunday morning. He teamed with AEW stars Darby Allin & Sting to beat AKIRA, Hakushi & Naomichi Marufuji.
Sting hit a scorpion death drop, Allin hit a coffin drop, and Muta closed with another shining wizard to Hakushi. Post-match, Muta attacked Hakushi’s ringside monk and then stabbed Hakushi with the grave marker before signing his name in blood.
Muta used the item by stabbing Hakushi in the head, cutting him open, earlier in the bout.
The Great Muta is the alter ego of Muto, who will have his retirement match on February 21 against Tetsuya Naito.
Muto first appeared as Muta in 1989 for the NWA before bringing the character to Japan. He had famous matches with various top names, including Ric Flair. Earlier this month, Muta wrestled WWE’s Shinsuke Nakamura.
