Fans now know who AEW’s Kenny Omega will be wrestling at the upcoming AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door 2 pay-per-view event, as it will be a rematch from Wrestle Kingdom in January.
At Sunday’s NJPW Dominion, Will Ospreay defeated Lance Archer in the finals of the IWGP US Title number one contender’s tournament to earn a shot at Omega’s title at the upcoming event on June 25.
The bout ended when Ospreay hit Archer with the hidden blade. Post-match, Ospreay called out Omega by noting that he was going to walk to Canada to get back the title that he lost to Omega at Wrestle Kingdom.
To get to this point, Ospreay beat Hiroshi Tanahashi at NJPW Resurgence in the semifinals. Ospreay has also publicly talked about wanting to wrestle at AEW All In at Wembley Stadium in August.
