Khan family has interest in merging AEW and WWE, Khans open to Vince McMahon having a role in the company

Just hours after a Barrons.com report about Shad and Tony Khan’s interest in buying WWE, CNBC is reporting they are interested in merging AEW and WWE.

CNBC cited “people familiar with the matter” when they reported on AEW’s interest to merge with WWE. They confirmed previous reporting about the Khan family possibly partnering with a strategic media company to share the intellectual property while merging the two wrestling companies.

The people who CNBC spoke with did not want to be named because of the private nature of the discussions. The story notes that this is a long shot scenario and AEW has not had talks with Vince McMahon or Nick Khan.

It was also stated in the report that The Khans are open to talk about a potential role for McMahon after the sale but those talks have not yet happened

WWE is hoping to have the company sold by mid-2023. There’s a number of potential buyers including Endeavor, Comcast, and the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund.
