LA Knight inking a new deal with WWE is not a done deal just yet.
As previously reported last week, Knight and WWE have been negotiating a new long-term deal that’s believed to be a five-year deal.
This comes at a time when he has been given a notable push coming out of SummerSlam, where he beat The Miz in a singles match at Payback that had John Cena serve as the special guest referee.
Post-match, Cena endorsed Knight to the fans. LA Knight was slotted as the top babyface on the internal SmackDown roster coming out of the show.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that the two sides have been in talks, but the two sides are far apart on money. The report stated, “No deal has been agreed to, and doesn’t appear imminent, but they’ll keep negotiating.”
One WWE higher-up stated that there’s no truth to Knight’s big push being tied to a new deal and cited various wrestlers who have deals expiring next year and are still getting pushes.
Knight’s current WWE deal has over a year and a half left on it.
