It’s an interesting time for Kenny Omega as he is currently the AEW Trios Champions with The Young Bucks, but he will have to make a decision regarding his wrestling future when his AEW deal expires.
WrestlingNews.co previously reported that Omega’s deal has expired or is set to expire soon. The feeling in WWE is that signing Omega is a top priority for them right now, even more than signing top free agent Jay White.
Omega, along with The Young Bucks, signed a four-year deal with AEW when the promotion launched in 2019.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that “Omega’s AEW contract date was to have expired at the end of January as he had a four-year deal with no option clause to add time that started on February 1, 2019.”
However, AEW has added time to it due to him missing action as Omega was out for nine months for several injuries last year. The maximum amount of time would lead to Omega being under contract until November, but Meltzer was told that “the extended time frame hasn’t been finalized as far as how long.”
The feeling is that Omega and the Young Bucks have a good shot of sticking together. Agent Barry Bloom represents Omega and is expected to rep The Young Bucks as well. The Young Bucks deals are up at the end of the year.
