Matt Riddle claims Brock Lesnar went into business for himself in WWE Royal Rumble match

For years, Matt Riddle had talked about Brock Lesnar and wanting a match with him in WWE. Although they never wrestled a singles match, they did get to share the ring for the Royal Rumble in 2022 and worked an Elimination Chamber match.

Riddle noted in an interview that he promised the former WWE Champion that he would stop calling out Lesnar publicly, which is no longer an issue with Riddle’s departure from WWE while thriving in NJPW and MLW.

Signed By Superstars hosted a virtual signing with Riddle where the former WWE star claimed Riddle stated that he ‘believes’ he was told he would be winning the 2022 Men’s Royal Rumble Match. However, he claimed that Lesnar went into business for himself and told people he was winning the match instead. This was after Lesnar had put over Bobby Lashley earlier in the night.

“So I believe — you know, it’s sports-entertainment — that I was told at one point, yeah, I was gonna win the (Royal) Rumble and everything else and then what was it? Bobby Lashley beat Brock Lesnar because somebody came in and hit him with the belt or what have you. Then Brock came in, didn’t wanna do business with everybody, said he was winning, and then he won, and then none of the producers… nobody stood up to him and they let him do it. I didn’t either, I didn’t either. I’m like, f*ck man, I’m just here.”

He also claimed that he was supposed to win the 2022 Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder match, which was won by Austin Theory, a decision made by Vince McMahon hours before the match.
