Mercedes Mone’s run in NJPW may be coming to an end soon after making her promotional debut in January at WrestleKingdom in the Tokyo Dome to challenge KAIRI for the IWGP Women’s Championship.
KAIRI accepted before the former Sasha Banks laid her out. Mone made her in-ring debut at Battle in the Valley last month to win the IWGP Women’s Championship.
She is slated to make her first title defense against AZM at NJPW Sakura Genesis next month. As previously reported, Mone is also making her STARDOM debut on the STARDOM All-Star Grand Queendom show on April 23.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that Mone “as of right now, Mercedes Mone has no dates left with Bushiroad [NJPW’s parent company] after the 4/23 Yokohama Arena show.”
It’s possible that Mone will move on from NJPW and potentially go to AEW as if that were the case, then she could always go back to NJPW when she wanted.
Earlier this month, Mone told TMZ Sports, “I’m putting the offer on the table for the list to see who’s next. I want to see who’s ready for Mercedes Mone because I turn down for nobody. I’m always here for the check. I’m always here for the bag, and whoever has the biggest bag is where I’m gonna go.”
