Mercedes Mone Is Staying Quiet About Her Return From Injury

Mercedes Mone is keeping her recovery from an injury she suffered a few months ago a mystery as she looks to make her return to the ring impactful.

The former WWE star was wrestling Willow Nightingale in a match to crown the first-ever NJPW Strong Women’s Champion when she suffered an injury in the main event of NJPW Resurgence. This led to changes being made as Mone was supposed to go over in the bout to become the inaugural champion. She suffered a broken ankle when going for code red off the top rope and slipped. Nightingale went over to win the title only to recently drop it to Giulia.

It’s believed she had surgery to fix the injury. As previously reported, there is no timeline for Mone’s return, but when she does, she will be going after Giulia for the title.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted Mone is staying quiet about her status but was spotted on crutches over the weekend.

“So she has been quiet about everything. She was at the Impact Wrestling Slammiversary pay-per-view….I know she still had crutches, and she had a walking boot on, so the presumption is that she had surgery, but she is still on crutches. We haven’t heard anything about a timetable. Obviously, the plan, when she’s ready, is to wrestle Giulia, who won the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship from Willow Nightingale.”

Meltzer added that he doesn’t know a timeframe or people close to her don’t know because she’s keeping it so quiet.
