Mercedes Mone says she’s moving to Japan full-time, learning Japanese

After taking a chance on herself by leaving WWE and signing with NJPW, where she instantly became their biggest star, Mercedes Mone has fallen in love with Japan.

The former WWE star successfully defended her IWGP Women’s Championship against Hazuki & AZM at a recent STARDOM show. She is slated to defend the title on April 23 against Mayu Iwatani.

This bout will be the last match on her current Bushiroad (NJPW/STARDOM) contract deal. As previously reported, Mone is in talks with the promotion for a contract extension to do one more match.

If she doesn’t stay with the company, the door is open for her to make a WWE return, or she could go to AEW.

Mone noted on her Instagram Stories that she is “definitely moving full-time to” Japan and is going to school to learn the Japanese language as she prepares for the next chapter in her life.
