AEW confirmed last night that Mike Tyson would return to the promotion on next Friday’s episode of Rampage from Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall, the site of some of Tyson’s biggest victories in his legendary boxing career.
Tyson will be appearing as part of the announcing team. He has made several appearances for the promotion in the past, including when he served as the enforcer for the inaugural AEW TNT Championship bout at Double Or Nothing 2020 and got into a shoving contest with Chris Jericho on Dynamite.
Pwinsider.com reports this return “may not be just a one-off appearance for Mike Tyson in AEW and that the deal for Tyson to appear was put together just a few days ago.”
Whether Tyson makes more appearances or not, booking Tyson on Rampage instead of Dynamite shows that AEW President Tony Khan is looking to make Rampage feel important again.
Tyson is a lifelong wrestling fan and has made several appearances in the WWE, including when he was the guest referee for the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania XIV, which saw Steve Austin win his first World Title from Shawn Michaels. He was inducted into WWE’s Hall of Fame in 2012.
