There was a storyline progression tonight after the main event of AEW Collision.
MJF and Adam Cole did not beat FTR to win the AEW World Tag Team Titles. This was after MJF sacrificed himself to keep Cole from taking the Shatter Machine. MJF and Cole were very close to winning the match prior to this, including one apparent 3 count that was deemed a 2 by the referee.
MJF blamed himself for losing the match but was reassured by Cole that it was okay. MJF, with his World Title in hand, seemed conflicted about hitting Cole in the back of the head and Cole told him to do what he had to do. However, MJF tossed the belt away and they hugged in the center of the ring.
