MJF: ‘I most certainly haven’t signed a contract extension with AEW’

MJF is days away from one of the biggest matches in his pro wrestling career thus far when he challenges Jon Moxley for the AEW World Heavyweight Title in the main event of this Saturday’s Full Gear pay-per-view event.

While speaking with Joseph Staszewski of the New York Post, he reiterated that his contract expires on January 1, 2024. This has been used as his new tagline for the majority of 2022 as he expressed publicly and privately his unhappiness about his contract with AEW as he felt that he should make more money than what the original deal called for.

This was used on television after Double Or Nothing, where he demanded AEW President Tony Khan fire him and disappeared from TV for months until All Out, where he returned.

MJF stated that he is being paid a lot more after returning two months ago, but hasn’t signed a new deal that would replace his existing contract:

“I know the truth. I most certainly haven’t. I think that wrestling fans are kind of just doing that to kid themselves. So maybe they feel a little less heartbroken as things are going on. Now I’ll tell you this, bonus and brownie points from Tony Khan for paying me what he’s paying me now with no extension. He did not have to do that.”

In September, the top AEW star stated that he’s now making “a stupid, absurd amount of money” with AEW but is doing so without signing a contract extension. It was later reported that MJF is making more than $1 million per year.
