MJF Officially Breaks All-Time AEW Record

The transformation of the MJF character has been a highlight in the booking of Tony Khan as AEW President.

For the majority of his run, MJF is an old-school heel as he’s not looking to be a fan-favorite heel, but rather one that fans truly hate to see and are willing to see get “beat up.” He takes his act everywhere he goes, including on social media.

That changed when he was put into a program with Adam Cole, leading to MJF becoming a tweener and then into a total babyface.

MJF won the World Title from Jon Moxley a year ago at Full Gear, where he has since defended it against the likes of Bryan Danielson at Revolution in an Iron Man match, Hiroshi Tanahashi at Forbidden Door, Ethan Page, Adam Cole at All In and Samoa Joe.

On Wednesday, MJF broke the record of the longest-reigning AEW champion when he surpassed the 346-day record of Kenny Omega.

AEW used this as a storyline in the build-up to MJF beating Omega last Saturday on Collision.
