More details on the situation between Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens at WWE Survivor Series

Although Roman Reigns was said not to be too happy when he got backstage after the WarGames match at Saturday’s WWE Survivor Series event, it isn’t stopping WWE from moving forward with their plans.

The Bloodline was victorious over Sheamus, Butch, Ridge Holland, Kevin Owens, and Drew McIntyre in the match. “The Tribal Chief” was mad at Owens over an unplanned spot that saw Owens hit him in the face, which left noticeable bruising.

As previously reported, Reigns was visibly upset about the situation, but the belief among those in WWE was that it wouldn’t impact their ability to work together. In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer shared more details on the situation after speaking with multiple sources. Reigns was mad due to the injury and because it was a spot that he didn’t know was coming, nor one that made sense in the match to him.

Meltzer wrote, “Some said it happened, Reigns was obviously furious, but it largely blew over by 20 minutes later. Others said that wasn’t accurate in the sense it wasn’t completely blown over.”

The report stated the feeling is the incident was something that just happens in wrestling from time to time. Reigns ‘pretty much personally ‘picked to work with Owens and Zayn. Out of everyone on the roster to work with and elevate, those were the ones he picked.

Zayn got the spot because of his work and getting over in the spot, while Owens made sense because of their history and his skills in the ring.

The report added, “there was the idea he didn’t have to pick him or either of them and did and was mad because something happened that he felt with his character should not have happened, and he also got hurt. But as noted, it’s not like he was mad to the point of wanting the plans in place to change.”

On Monday’s episode of Raw, Owens beat Jey Uso before ending his friendship with Sami Zayn.
