NWA’s Natalia Markova: Sarah Logan knows Max The Impaler, It feels like a disrespectful ripoff

In an exclusive interview for WrestlingNews.co, Natalia Markova discussed NWA Empowerrr and the potential for another show, Billy Corgan and the social media controversy over Sarah Logan’s new look on WWE SmackDown.

Markova was asked to give her thoughts on people commenting that Sarah Logan’s new look on SmackDown is a direct rip off of Max the Impaler:

“I mean, honestly, I think it is a ripoff because I know for a fact that Sarah knows Max. I think it’s again, that goes back to this disrespect thing. You can do something similar. There are different versions. You could do this gimmick. You can do this type of personality. But I think that she just saw that it was successful and she was like, alright, I’m in a bigger company and I can do whatever I want. I think people just feel like they could do whatever they want if they’re in WWE, which honestly, again, if it would be 50 years ago when there was no internet, you can get away with that. But now, everybody knows everything. I could go on Twitter and you can see Max. Even if you don’t know who Max is, we’re still in the same business and I think you need to respect each other, and just out of respect, you could maybe use different colors or different patterns. It was just totally similar. To me, it feels like a disrespectful ripoff. I think that shouldn’t be happening in wrestling. I love Max. I think she’s awesome. So please, please, respect her career. She’s an independent wrestler at this point. It’s hard for her to do what she does. She’s not signed to a huge amount of money and she makes money out of this. So please, wrestlers, be respectful to each other.”

On if she believes there will be another Empowerrr:

“I think so. I mean, I honestly don’t know plans, but I know how Billy is about women’s wrestling. So I think based on what he says, I want to think that there will be another one. It’s just probably a matter of money. Don’t forget that it costs a lot of money to do something like Empowerrr. It’s a huge, huge, huge event, and I gotta give him credit because I know that before, Mickie James, I think, was trying to do that Empowerrr with other promotions, with other people, and it never worked out and Billy was the one who actually put his own money to make it happen. So I think that’s a big deal. I think that, yeah, it’s probably just a matter of time when the time is right and money’s there, they will make another one.”

Natalia telling the story of her purse being stolen on the plane after the NWA TV tapings:

“Yeah, that was a crazy story. It was really amazing. It was all over the news everywhere, speaking of publicity for the company, because again, it was all over, like NWA wrestlers, it was me and Bryan Idol, whose name is Mercurio in the NWA. We were coming back actually from NWA tapings. We didn’t know back then, but when I left the plane I realized I didn’t have a purse on me and we realized some guy stole it when I was on the plane. I had my AirPods in the purse and we tracked the guy. It was like an one hour process almost sort of tracking him from the airport, first to the gas station, then somewhere else, a little shop. Then we ended up in Walmart. As soon as we walked in Walmart, the guy was at the register trying to buy a $700 TV with my credit card. But of course, I don’t know, it’s probably stupid that he didn’t realize it was a fraud alert on my phone because of that. You can’t just buy $700 worth of stuff with credit card, so he was trying to use all different cards. Bryan came to him and he was like, ‘Hey, I think this is not your credit card.’ So the guy pushed Bryan in the face and started running. Bryan followed him and tackled him like a real like football sack basically. All the cards flew. It was actually a cool thing to see. There’s footage. If you guys search it in Google, you can see that. So yeah, basically a happy end. The guy gave everything back. He was sorry. That was cool. It was good to see that wrestlers are actual athletes. For Bryan, it was like one second to chase the guy and take him down and hold him. I kind of helped too. I was holding his arm all the way until the cops came and it took like 10 minutes before they came.”
