In an exclusive for WrestlingNews.co, former WWE star/current NWA wrestler Mike Knox was interviewed by Steve Fall. Knox was on to promote the NWA’s “HP Cares for Cooper” charity event. He also talked about his WWE and TNA career.
Billy Corgan’s NWA will be putting on an event called “HP Cares for Cooper” on July 8 in Highland Park, IL. The event will benefit an 8-year-old boy named Cooper Roberts, who was shot during the devastating mass shooting at the Fourth of July parade at Highland Park last year. Seven people were killed and Cooper has been going through intense physical rehab and multiple surgeries. Admission to the show is free but if you make a minimum donation of $75 then you will get VIP seats in the first or second rows. The charity event is scheduled for July 8 and the NWA will hold a TV taping there on July 9. Visit NWATix.com for more information.
Mike Knox on working with Hulk Hogan:
“Hulk Hogan was the reason that I fell in love with professional wrestling in the first place. I was probably seven or eight years old when I saw him in my first Saturday Night’s Main Event. It was him and Orndorff in the cage, so that was my first match that I ever saw. I went to school the next day and ended up getting into fights over it. I was like, Oh my God, I want to be a wrestler. I had posters of him on my wall until I was, I don’t know, going to high school probably and then I realized that girls didn’t really dig that. I grew up with him on my wall, and then we were in TNA, finally. He was nicer than he ever needed to be to me. He would talk with us, beerski, you know what I mean? I was with Wes and Garrett. So I was like, I already kind of had an in because they’ve known him for years now, like since they were kids. Now here I am and I’m just sitting there talking to my hero and I get to frickin’ sell form every once in a while and he sells for us. We get to kick the crap out of him. He’s so nice.”
In the video below, Knox talked about running into Hogan a month or so ago and what Hogan said to him.
