The AEW Double or Nothing card is close to being finalized as the main card looks to be set, and usually, the promotion will announce pre-show matches during the Rampage broadcast.
That trend looks to be continuing with pre-show bouts being confirmed for Rampage, except for one that had been planned.
As previously reported last month, AEW was planning to hold off on doing the first Keith Lee vs. Swerve Strickland match for this show. These two stars have been feuding in recent months after losing the Tag Team Titles and Swerve ultimately turning on Lee.
However, those plans were nixed as during the Rampage tapings, both men were involved in the brawl involving the Blackjack Battle Royal participants that will be competing for Orange Cassidy’s International Title.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez talked about the nixed bout.
Meltzer: “I got the names, by the way. Let me go through this. But two of them are Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland. So they’re not having a single match.”
Alvarez: “My God, Can you imagine?”
Meltzer: “I can’t.”
Alvarez: “You can’t. I mean, how long are we gonna go before we see this match?”
Meltzer: “Maybe they’ll save it for London [All In]. I don’t know.”
