Plans for Gunther taking on Brock Lesnar in a match at WWE WrestleMania 39 is an example of how plans can change at any time.
In December, it was internally scheduled for the biggest event of the year for the company. The bout made sense as the Intercontinental Champion had talked about wanting the match due to his belief that a match with Lesnar would present the biggest possible challenge for him. WWE even teased a showdown between the two stars in the 30-Man Royal Rumble match.
However, WrestleVotes reported today that while a decision has yet to be made, there are plans in place for a triple threat bout pitting Gunther vs. Sheamus vs. Drew McIntyre with the Intercontinental Championship on the line at Mania.

The top two matches for Mania were confirmed this week on WWE Raw as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns will defend against Cody Rhodes and SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair will take on Rhea Ripley.
