Fightful Select is reporting that AEW management spoke with Athena and Jody Threat after their match on Dark that was taped last week in Toronto.
As seen in the video below, it appeared that Athena was working stiff with Threat and Fightful reports that there was a spot where Threat slipped on what her comeback was supposed to be and she ended up getting a “little lost” so she asked Athena what was next in the match and then things devolved into what you see in the clip below.
The story noted that several people were confident that Threat had no problem with the physicality but it shouldn’t have happened anyway and those close to Athena said that both women were approached by management to make sure that everything was okay. A source familiar with the situation reportedly felt that this should have been an opportunity to lead by example instead of letting the match devolve into what it became.
Threat reportedly did not complain and there was no backstage issue between both women and a source said about Threat that she is not big on the attention that comes from situations like these as she tried to keep herself away from the political side of things in wrestling.
