With just a couple of hours until AEW Dynamite and with rumors that Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks were returning, news broke from CM Punk’s camp about Punk’s dog Larry getting hurt during the backstage fight after AEW All Out.
In the days and weeks after the fight, there have been several versions of the story about what happened, including versions told from the Punk side of things, and the story about Larry the dog had not been told until last night.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that he had gotten stories from both sides and the part about the dog had never been mentioned. Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that, per multiple sources, the story is a fabrication.
Meltzer later stated the following on the Observer Board, in response to members talking about the subject: “Anyway, multiple eye witnesses said that dog story was a total fabrication. If it was true, the end of the investigation would have been that Punk would be the one staying.”
As previously reported, Punk is not expected back in AEW and there are talks ongoing about a contract buyout. Ace Steel was let go last week and The Elite returned in a backstage capacity last night on AEW Dynamite. A video was aired of them so they should be back on TV soon.
