REPORT: Seth Rollins/Cody Rhodes WWE Raw Segment Was Added Because Of CM Punk’s Injury

CM Punk going down with an injury not only caused a change to plans for WWE WrestleMania 40 but also Monday’s Raw.

Original plans

Punk will miss WrestleMania 40 with a torn triceps after he was expected to challenge Seth Rollins for the World Title, while Cody Rhodes was expected to challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title at Mania.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that despite rumors going around, Rhodes was always scheduled to win the WWE Royal Rumble and plans didn’t change because Punk was injured in the Rumble match before Rhodes eliminated him.

Addition

The creative on Monday’s WWE Raw adjusted from what was originally planned as that is directly tied to Punk’s injury. The Rollins/Cody segment on the show was added as a result of Punk’s injury.

It looks like WWE is keeping things open for now, with Rhodes vs Rollins being a real possibility for Mania, which would allow Rhodes to complete his story of winning a World Title and doing the long-desired Reigns vs. The Rock match.
