John Cena had agreed to star in “Coyote vs Acme,” a live-action/CG animation hybrid movie, and filmed the project where he plays the Acme Corporation’s CEO character.
As previously reported, Warner Bros. decided to indefinitely shelve the project after spending $70 million on it.
Dave Green directed the movie based on the classic Looney Tunes character Wile E. Coyote from Warner Bros. Wile E. Coyote is a character who endlessly fails in his attempts to capture and kill his nemesis, the Road Runner.
The movie was filmed last year in New Mexico. The description of the film noted it “will tell the story of a down-on-his-luck (human) attorney who takes on Wile E. as a client in his suit against Acme over its defective products, only to discover that his boss at his former law firm is representing Acme.”
Green is best known for directing Earth to Echo and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Chris DeFaria and James Gunn produced the film.
However, the project could be seen as Puck News reports that Warner Bros. is allowing the filmmakers to shop the movie around to other movie studios. The decision was made after the backlash of the news that the movie wouldn’t be released.
In a surprising about-face, Warner Bros. executives will allow the filmmakers of Coyote vs. Acme—a $70 million live action/CGI hybrid Looney Tunes film—to shop the movie to other potential distributors.
