Rey Mysterio vs. Logan Paul for the WWE United States Championship took place at the WWE Crown Jewel 2023 premium live event from Saudi Arabia.
Near the end of the match, One of Paul’s entourage handed him brass knuckles, but Rey shoved Paul, causing the knuckles to drop onto the ring. Santos Escobar snatched the brass knuckles and placed them inside the ring while chasing the person away from ringside. Paul retrieved the knuckles and struck Rey with them as he attempted a springboard dive, securing the victory.
Paul had been on hiatus from WWE since this past Summer at SummerSlam, where he scored a win over Ricochet in the opening contest of the PLE card. Following his boxing bout with Dillon Danis in Manchester, England. He called out Mysterio for the United States Title.
WWE Stats noted heading into Crown Jewel that Mysterio had the chance to make history, and he did at Crown Jewel, as there has not been a United States Championship reign to start and end outside of the United States. Mysterio won the title from Austin Theory in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on an August episode of SmackDown.
