There was a title change tonight on WWE Friday Night SmackDown in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Santos Escobar was scheduled to face Austin Theory for the U.S. Title tonight but Austin Theory attacked his leg and Escobar was no longer able to compete. Theory thought that he would be able to not defend his title on tonight’s show but Adam Pearce made the decision to have Mysterio challenge for the title.
The impromptu match was made and Mysterio won the title and celebrated with the LWO after the match. Mysterio got a full fireworks display as Theory looked on from the ring with an unhappy look on his face.
