In an exclusive for WrestlingNews.co, Steve Fall interviewed Rocky Romero. Among the things discussed were CM Punk, Mercedes Mone, AEW’s relationship with NJPW, MLW, and the possibility of New Japan Strong returning.
If New Japan Strong will be returning in 2024:
“I mean, 2024, I would love, love, love, love to see New Japan Strong have a weekly show primarily, you know, whether it was on New Japan World or a combination of World and some network or something. I mean, that was kind of always the hope and in the cards. We’ve had a couple of conversations with some folks that like the show and I think it’s, you know, it’s got some legs. So I mean, hard to say, though, you know, obviously, you know, selling and pitching shows are difficult. Wrestling is hotter than ever. We’ve got a great fan base worldwide, so you never know.”
Rocky Romero talking about the December 7th MLW One Shot which will air on FITE TV:
“I’m a big fan of MLW and the product that they put on. I think it’s a pretty cool, diverse show. You know, it’s got a little bit of everything. It’s got comedy. It’s got blood and guts. It’s got good wrestling. It’s got good characters. So yeah, I think it’s a really complete show and it’s obviously easily accessible because most of the shows are on YouTube or you can watch them in a multitude of different places, FITE TV. So, but yeah, I’m a big fan of the product. I like what they do and how they do it and how they execute it. So yeah, if you’re a wrestling fan and you’re looking for something that’s a little different, it’s got its own little niche going on within the wrestling world, because that’s what it all is. There’s different niches of wrestling and every company brings something different and special, but I think you’ll really enjoy it. I don’t think it’s just for the hardcore wrestling fan, like a New Japan fan, you know, who wants a high, you know, quality in-ring style. It’s a pretty diverse product. Recently MLW started working with CMLL and New Japan together in this partnership. I think the CMLL guys add a lot to the program, and I’ll be going one on one against Mascara Dorada. I’m looking forward to it. We had a such a banger a couple months ago in CMLL and I think that it’d be cool to, you know, branch out and kind of show what CMLL and some of the new stars in CMLL and kind of get them in front of a different audience, especially a huge audience like MLW has internationally.” (Note: Click here for tickets/PPV ordering info for MLW One Shot).
