We are less than a week away from the official announcement of AEW Collision, the new show that is expected to debut next month and will air every Saturday night between 8-10 pm Eastern.
The show will be CM Punk’s primary home and because of the WBD exclusivity, they have scrapped the Dark and Dark: Elevation tapings. Rampage will continue to be taped after Dynamite and ROH (not part of the WBD deal) will be taped on the same night as Collision.
One of the big questions is what happens with Colt Cabana since he works as a producer for ROH. If he remains in that role then he and CM Punk could end up in the same locker room on most weeks. The solution here seems to be to move Cabana to Wednesday but nothing is known about his role because nobody in AEW is talking.
Dave Meltzer wrote in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that nothing is being said about the Saturday show by people in AEW because it has not officially been announced. Tony Khan stated during Dynamite that an announcement is coming this Wednesday on TNT (presumably during the Upfronts). He did not directly say that it was about the new show but he hinted at it.
For those of you who haven’t been keeping up with the AEW issues, Cabana and Punk haven’t spoken in years and their issues are what sparked the backstage issues last year that led to the fight after All Out. Meltzer reported that Punk and Cabana had a falling out years ago because Cabana met with his friends with WWE while Cabana was suing the company.
