Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns was injured while working with Jey Uso in a Tribal Combat Match at the WWE SummerSlam premium live event from Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.
It looks like the injury happened when Jey hit an outside dive and landed on the back of Reigns, who wasn’t expecting the spot. The match ended when Jimmy Uso cost his brother the bout.
Dave Meltzer first reported that Reigns was hurt in the bout, and it happened early on, but it’s unclear what the exact injury is. Reigns is confirmed to be on Friday’s SmackDown.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that they also heard the injury happened early on. However, he is still slated to do his Hail The Tribal Chief segment on SmackDown.
The report noted that while there was word came out after SummerSlam that Reigns was not advertised for any WWE TV episodes over the next few months, they confirmed that, as of now, “there aren’t plans for him to miss his internally scheduled appearances. That could always change.”
Those who would likely be in the know in a creative capacity for SmackDown hadn’t even heard about the injury until word came out today. As of Tuesday afternoon, it hadn’t changed creative.
