Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. Jey Uso in a Tribal Combat Match took place at the WWE SummerSlam premium live event from Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.
The main event match ended when Jey hit a spear to Reigns, then went to the top rope and hit a splash for two as Jimmy Uso returned to pull him out of the ring. Jimmy, with a superkick to Jey, then rolled him back in the ring, allowing Reigns to spear Jey through the announce table.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer Reigns was hurt in the bout, but it’s unclear what the exact injury is. Reigns is confirmed to be on Friday’s SmackDown.
“He’s going to be back Friday, Roman Reigns got hurt in that match. I haven’t watched the beginning of the match over again, but I heard it was relatively early. I heard, you know, he got hurt. I don’t know the nature of the injury, I just heard that he worked the match hurt. He worked the hurt. He got hurt early in the match. I don’t know what his schedule is, but he’s gonna be on the show Friday night, so, you know, he would certainly do…I would presume he’ll be on Survivor Series. I don’t know that as a fact. I’m sure he’ll be on the Saudi show. As far as the next two pay-per-views, I don’t know the answer to that one yet, but I guess Friday we will. We’ll find out.”
