Ronda Rousey lost to Shayna Baszler in an MMA Rules Match at the WWE SummerSlam premium live event from Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, this past Summer, wrapping up her second run with the company.
However, she didn’t stay out of the ring for long as the former WWE Women’s Champion made a surprise return on Thursday for Lucha VaVOOM at the Mayan Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
Rousey was sitting in the front row when she teamed with her long-time friend Marina Shafir to take on Taya Valkyrie and Brian Kendrick in tag team action.
It only lasted five minutes as Rousey won the match for her team by submitting Kendrick with an ankle lock. You can check out the full match below as she posted it on Instagram that included a message noting that anybody who doubted that she and Shafir could make magic in the ring is an idiot.
Kendrick helped train Rousey, who had requested him to return to WWE twice during her tenure to be a co-producer for her matches.
She wrote in the caption, “@luchavavoom was honestly the best Lucha/burlesque hybrid show I’ve ever had the pleasure of jumping into unannounced.
