Fans hoping to see a recent rumored match for Roman Reigns at WWE Royal Rumble will be disappointed.
Roman Reigns’ schedule
Reigns has worked a reduced schedule since signing a new WWE deal last year. His last match was at Crown Jewel, where he beat LA Knight to retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Title, which marked his first televised match since Summerslam, as he didn’t work Payback and Fastlane.
Obviously, Reigns is not booked for this Saturday’s Survivor Series and will remain off television for the rest of the year. The belief is he will be back on television for the start of the build to the Royal Rumble on Saturday, January 27, 2024, from Tampa, FL at Tropicana Field.
Not the plan
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE is not planning to run back Knight vs. Reigns.
Meltzer wrote, “We were told that as of this time, Reigns vs. Knight is not the title match at Rumble. That is Reigns’ next match. There are those who feel it should be Knight in that spot, but we were told [Paul] Levesque has another plan right now.”
