Scrapped WWE plans for Scarlett to manage an NXT star in 2019

Karrion Kross was pushed as a top star in WWE NXT thanks to strong booking and a cool entrance with Scarlett. However, that wouldn’t have happened the exact same way if WWE had gone with its original plans for Scarlett.

Scarlett signed with WWE in 2019, while in 2020, Kross joined the company and would soon debut for the NXT brand later that summer with Scarlett.

Fightful Select reports that Damian Priest was originally supposed to have her be his manager. This idea was pitched when NXT went from the WWE Network to the USA Network.

However, the report noted, “Priest didn’t think she was a good fit for that spot. This was actually when they were still in developmental.”

The report noted that some within NXT thought the act would make TV up until the week it was nixed. Fightful was told it was within the first few weeks of the brand airing on the USA Network.

Once Priest passed on the idea, Scarlett’s character was put on the back burner until it became clear that Kross was coming into the company.

At today’s WWE Crown Jewel event, Kross will face Drew McIntyre in a Steel Cage Match.
