Several wrestlers on the verge of being cut due to new WWE doctrine

WWE NXT wrestlers are facing yet another change as the company recently dropped the NXT 2.0 name in favor of returning to NXT with the old black and gold colors a week ago.

The company shifted its developmental strategy last year when NXT was rebranded as NXT 2.0 as the show went from dark to colorful, with veteran and smaller wrestlers to featuring bigger and college athletes with no wrestling background. Also, the product shifted from focusing on in-ring work to character development and promos.

It’s still unclear what the product will look like once WWE resumes airing live episodes of NXT on October 4th.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that there is also a doctrine in NXT that was said to be a new rule, but it “may be a strong recommendation as opposed to being a hard-and-fast rule” that everyone signed from this point on and those who have already started, has two years to become “good enough” to make NXT television, or they will be cut.

It was noted “that a lot of people right now are “on the clock.”
