In an exclusive for WrestlingNews.co, Steve Fall interviewed WWE star Shayna Baszler. The interview was conducted during Money In The Bank weekend and before Shayna turned at Ronda on Saturday night. Scroll down to watch the interview.
Baszler talked about the elevation of the Women’s tag team division:
“Well, I think it’s not a secret that the tag titles are the most important they’ve been in a long while. When’s the last time they’ve been defended on a pay-per-view? And let alone one of the big pay-per-views? You know, so you can’t argue that. Yeah, and so I think that alone is the ripple effect, we need to get the tag division like up and running and for real.”
On why so many people on the internet hate on Ronda Rousey:
“It’s been that way ever since I’ve known her, man. I don’t know. I don’t know. And it’s funny too, because the few times — it happened more in MMA as well. But the few times where I get on and I’m like, actually, that’s not true. They’re like, you’re speaking as her friend, you’re blind. And I’m like, Yeah, I know her better. But whatever. For whatever reason, people hate her. She’s easy to hate. That’s just something we’re used to. I don’t know. It’s been that way for years. Yeah.”
On WWE potentially adding a Women’s Intercontinental Championship:
“I mean, the division, the Women’s Division across WWE is definitely talented enough. And big enough. So if they wanted to do that, I don’t think that’s something that would fail. I think for sure, that would be awesome.”
On Liv Morgan saying that she would like to see a weekly all-women’s show:
“People like to watch women beat each other up. That’s one thing that Ronda Rousey showed everyone, okay, for people that want to hate. Ronda started beating people up when she was fighting and she was the biggest draw at the time and the WWE said oh, they like see girls beat each other up. Cool. Let’s start letting them go. And so that’s why we’re here.”
