WWE will have a surprise in store for fans checking out tonight’s Fastlane premium live event.
Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar were supposed to team up with Cruz Del Toro or Joaquin Wilde in a six-man tag team match against Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits.
However, Cruz and Joaquin got injured during Lashley and Mysterio’s match on SmackDown, leaving them without a partner for Fastlane. Later in the show, Mysterio mentioned in a backstage segment that he would find a replacement for them, but wouldn’t say who it would be.
Pwinsider reports former WWE star Carlito will be returning at tonight’s show to be the mystery partner. The injuries to the two stars are purely storyline and they’re actually fine.
Carlito pulled out of his independent bookings in June and it was rumored that Carlito was returning to WWE. Carlito was reportedly slated to start full-time with WWE in early July with plans for him to return at the SmackDown show from MSG, but plans were nixed as a Bloodline segment ran long, and they had to cut Carlito’s segment.
