Stephanie McMahon addresses WWE return as co-CEO after taking a leave of absence

Stephanie McMahon took a leave of absence from WWE before taking the role of co-CEO of the company.

At the time, she cited that she wanted to spend time with her family. There was reportedly internal doubt over Stephanie’s abilities, and the belief was the odds she would return to the company were slim.

This was before the hush money scandal came out involving Vince McMahon and the WWE Board investigating the claims. Vince later resigned as Chairman and CEO of the company. Stephanie was named co-CEO with Nick Khan.

During today’s financial earnings call, Stephanie commented on her return and new position. She started by bringing up her work history with the company, from modeling merchandise to her other roles.

“I’ve worked my entire life for this business. I love this business. I took a leave of absence, realizing that I needed a little bit of time with my family, given the grueling schedule in nature. I got about three weeks, which is a lot more than a lot of other folks get. I was not forced into returning as CEO and Chairman in the interim position I offered. That was an opportunity for me to come back and be a part of this company that I love and have the opportunity to lead this company.”

Stephanie added that Vince is still the controlling shareholder and has his eyes on what is best for the company.
