Stephanie McMahon made a surprise appearance on Sunday evening at WWE WrestleMania XL – Night 2, where she cut a promo by saying she had the privilege of being at every WrestleMania and that this year’s event was the first-ever of the Paul Levesque era. She welcomed everyone to Mania.
McMahon previously announced in the summer of 2022 that she was taking a leave of absence from WWE, only to return after her father, Vince McMahon, had his hush money scandal broken to the press. He resigned from his WWE duties.
However, last January, Stephanie announced that she was no longer with the company in an executive role as she had resigned as Chairwoman and co-CEO of WWE. It was days after Vince voted himself back, alongside George Barrios and Michelle Wilson, to the Board Of Directors.
At the time, the story going around WWE was that Stephanie knew it was a matter of time before she was demoted following Vince’s return. This led to her leaving because she didn’t need the money/job, especially after making the decision months ago to leave anyway. He is now gone from the company following the horrific allegations made by former WWE employee Janel Grant.
While speaking at the post-WrestleMania 40 presser, Triple H was asked about McMahon’s appearance. For more on that, click here.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that the Stephanie segment was kept very quiet internally and was actually listed as a Triple H promo on the run sheets. Once she was backstage, she was welcomed by many as she has had a long reputation for being liked by those in the company.
