One of AEW’s top stars has responded to WWE’s Grayson Waller for taking a shot at the rival promotion earlier this month.
In an interview, he said that he was excited to bring good wrestling back to Jacksonville for the first time in years as SmackDown is coming to the city. AEW’s HQ is in the city, and countless shows have been held at Daily’s Place.
While speaking to News4Jax for a new interview, newly crowned AEW World Heavyweight Champion Swerve Strickland fired back.
“Obviously [a dig at AEW]. I love the subtleties. This person [Waller] that said that, congratulations on their championship gold. Amazing. You were awesome when you were watching me in the seats when I was being a champion over where you were as well. Happy to see where you progressed to, but let’s be real, we are the best wrestling. Not just in Jacksonville but anywhere on the globe. In the world. I stand on business on that.”
When asked about the state of AEW, Strickland noted that tickets and the promotion are growing after two back-to-back incredible pay-per-view events.
