Ted DiBiase, Jr. charged by DOJ in Mississippi welfare fraud scandal that involved Brett Favre

WAPT in Jackson, MS is reporting that WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase has been charged with multiple felonies in the Mississippi welfare fraud scandal involving Brett Favre.

The story notes that the unsealed federal indictment states that DiBiase, Jr. is accused of “misappropriating millions of dollars that were intended for needy families.”

DiBiase, Jr. allegedly fraudulently obtained money from The Emergency Food Assistance Program and the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.

The prosecutors in the case said that “DiBiase allegedly used these federal funds to buy a vehicle and a boat, and for the down payment on the purchase of a house, among other expenditures.”

He is being charged with “one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and to commit theft concerning programs receiving federal funds, six counts of wire fraud, two counts of theft concerning programs receiving federal funds, and four counts of money laundering” and he could face a maximum 5 years in prison for the conspiracy count and maximum of 20 years for each fraud count. In addition, he could face 10 years for each theft count “concerning programs receiving federal funds and for each count of money laundering.”
