Teddy Long: CM Punk Situation With AEW Is ‘All Basically a Work’

The latest from WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long was posted today on Sportskeeda’s YouTube channel. In the video below, Long gave his thoughts on the situation between CM Punk and The Elite. Punk is returning to AEW on the first Collision show on June 17 and reportedly there are plans for a soft brand split to keep Punk and others separate from the Dynamite roster.

“It’s called drama,” Long said about the backstage issues. “It’s drama and what it does is make you hurry up and wait. It’s all basically a work.”

Co-host Mac Davis asked if Punk is as welcomed backstage as he was before the backstage issues. Bill Apter chimed in and said that when you take away something, you want it more.

Davis said that Tony Khan needs to take hold of everything and tell the parties involved what he wants or Punk should just get out of the company. Long said, “Like I said, if it was me, I’d tease it all the way up until people think he’s coming in and he walks right out on WWE TV…that’s what I would do.”

All signs point to the Punk-Elite issues being legitimate and Punk is said to be on board for his return to TV at Collision next month. Time will tell if Punk and The Elite can eventually turn the real-life situation into a storyline later on. Listen to what Long, Apter and Davis said in the video below.
