There has been talk of an AEW star wanting to make WWE return

Edge is coming off a win over Finn Balor, who portrayed his Demon character, in a Hell in a Cell match on the second night of WWE WrestleMania 39.

Leading up to the match, the WWE Hall of Famer had talked about his impending retirement from the wrestling business for a second time in interviews. He had publicly stated last year that he wants his last match in his hometown of Toronto, but there are currently no premium live vents slated to take place in the city.

He has also stated that he would want to retire more at a show in Toronto than at WrestleMania 40 next year because he started wrestling in the city and wants to end his career for good there.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that there was talk of Christian wanting to do one more tag team match or run with Edge in WWE, although this all depends on Christian’s contract status with the rival promotion.

Meltzer wrote, “Behind-the-scenes, there was talk of Edge and Christian wanting to team together for one last time or run, but we don’t know Christian’s contract length and if it would be possible.”

Edge signed a three-year deal for $3 million per year in early 2020, with time likely added to it due to time missed because of injuries.

Edge has publicly talked about how he did get an offer from AEW President Tony Khan before he returned to WWE, but wanted to give Vince McMahon a chance to make an offer out of respect, which he did.
