Thunder Rosa offered to relinquish AEW Women’s World Title while sidelined with injury

Thunder Rosa had to pull out of her scheduled bout against Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s Title at All Out due to a back injury.

Rosa detailed on a recent episode of Busted Open Radio the pain from the back injury by noting that she will likely be out for a couple of months and can’t feel her legs.

Britt Baker, Jamie Hayter, Hikaru Shida, and Toni Storm will compete in a four-way to determine an interim AEW Women’s World Champion. AEW President Tony Khan was the person who wanted to go with the interim title route instead of taking the title off Rosa.

While speaking on Busted Open Radio, Khan noted that Rosa offered to relinquish the title.

“I have told her [Thunder Rosa] just as I mentioned to CM Punk when he was injured that, ‘I would like for you to remain the champion. Get healthy, come back’ and we’ll have a big unification match to crown an undisputed champion when Thunder Rosa returns. Both of them offered to relinquish the title and I told each of them, separately, when they came back from their injuries, they would still be recognized as the champion but by the time they came back, there would be an interim champion which would set up an exciting situation.”

Khan continued by noting that when Rosa returns from injury, she will fight the Interim Women’s Champion.
