Tony Deppen Pulls Out of Indie Booking After Finding Out Who Is Also Booked for the Show

Tony Deppen has continued to find success in the wrestling business since breaking in a decade ago by working his way up to working for the ROH brand before departing from the promotion.

Deppen was slated to work an independent wrestling show on September 9th from Harrisburg, PA, from the Old Bischoff McDevitt High School. The likes of Flip Gordon, Enzo Amore, and Marty Scurll are advertised for the show.

Scurll is an interesting name as he had been working for ROH before the Speaking Out movement in 2020, where he was accused of sexual assault in 2015. He re-signed with Ring of Honor and became the head booker before the allegations. In January 2021, Ring of Honor decided to part ways with him after they investigated the claims against him.

Former WWE star Anthony Carelli, better known as Santino Marella, had booked him for his Battle Arts Professional Wrestling promotion last month but later pulled him after receiving backlash.

Deppen took to twitter to note that he won’t be working the show because Scurll is booked.

“This has randomly been sprung on me. I was told I was working pcwa (place i got trained at) then I randomly get this as a flyer. I had no idea who was on the show (shows are normally low Budget); but after seeing the line up… yah no thanks.”
