Tony Khan addresses Ronda Rousey’s AEW/ROH status

On Friday night, Ronda Rousey made her All Elite Wrestling/ROH debut after the AEW Rampage event in Inglewood, California, by working a match.

Rousey had wrapped up with WWE following August’s SummerSlam event, where Shayna Baszler went over the former WWE Women’s Champion in an MMA rules match. Rousey’s contract had expired, and she took a hiatus following her second run with the company.

The match

In recent weeks, she wrestled two matches for Pro Wrestling Revolver. At the ROH TV tapings, she worked a tag team match. Following the show, Fightful reported that Rousey is under a handshake agreement with the company, hoping to use her again. The call to put the match on ROH TV was to boost HonorClub subscriptions.

While speaking at the post-Full Gear media scrum, AEW President Tony Khan addressed the situation.

Rousey’s status

“She is not signed, but we had a great conversation. It came about because there was some unfinished business,” Khan stated before explaining the storyline reason behind booking the match as them having unfinished business.

“Ronda was happy to come here. She was great, the crowd was really excited to see her, and it was a great match,” Khan continued before noting they would love to have her back.”
